Robots and artificial intelligence in Las Vegas: new trends in the gambling industry
A few years ago, in one of the articles on the development of the gambling business, it was predicted that by 2035 from 40% to 60% of jobs in the Las Vegas casino would be automated. In less than three years, this article was released, as in many restaurants, bars and gambling establishments of South Nevada began to use artificial intelligence (AI), which performs a number of important tasks.
In this regard, the so -called “culinary union” (a peculiar form of trade union), which represents the interests of more than 60 thousand people employed in the service sector, was even agitated. Representatives of the Union are going to develop a document on the protection of workers from AI, which will deprive many employees of jobs.
Today, in some establishments of Las Vegas, one can already observe how robots replace bartenders, as well as guards. In the spring of 2023, a video appeared in Tiktok from one of the visits of the bar, in which the mechanical hand mixes the cocktail in the glass. The video was accompanied by a comment that the robot is making a cocktail. Two robotic bars have already been opened in the city. Today they still cannot compete with traditional institutions, but this is expected in the near future.
If you give another example, you should pay attention to the Casino Hotel M Resort Spa & Casino, located in Henderson (a town near Las Vegas). Here in the parking lot for several months, a robot security guard has been used for several months. A special apparatus runs in parking and notes violations with 50 sensors and cameras.
At the same time, many gambling workers are sure that robots and AI will not be fully replaced by living workers. Many employees have established trust with regular customers who are happy to communicate with staff. As a result, a very mental atmosphere reigns in the institution. Robots like this cannot do. In any case, for now.
